I am in no way a professional pattern writer, but I hope to become better with time! This will be my first attempt at sharing how I made a project.
To make this cowl, I used hand spun, super chunky yarn. This yarn was made with a merino and silk roving from my local craft store.
Needle size: 10mm circular
Yarn: seventy yards of chunky
Cast on 60
knit 2 pearl 2 in the round until yarn is almost gone, bind off.
This was a super simple pattern that created an adorable and super soft scarf. I bought the roving from a lovely fiber store in fort collins and spun it on my ashford traditional spinning wheel. It was my first time spinning in a while and it came with a lot of cussing, messing up, and starting over.
Once I finally got the yarn spun, I was so excited to create something with it and I knew that it needed to be something that did not need to be super strong, but would be great super soft. Because I was so out of practice spinning, the yarn was uneven and had some very weak spots. It didn't take me long to come up with the idea of creating a cowl and I think that it turned out beautiful.
I wanted to make sure that it was a simple pattern because the yarn itself had plenty of pattern to give the project texture and I figured that a knit purl pattern would make it extra fluffy. This was indeed the case and I could not be happier with my first project back and my first project with merino fiber!
Thank you for reading! I will continue to share my progress and will continue to better my writing.
